That bikes gets a great review. Don't take this the wrong way, but I would not start off on a 600cc "sport" bike. watch this dudes video blog he explains it better than I can http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u5F9EeIP-B0
I 100% agree with him. I learned on Honda 400CB and I hated it!!! even a 400 was just too much for me for my first bike. Now that I have gotten used to riding and confident I can ride my 250cc at 100% and with 100% confidence. Not just that, but its more fun. like in the video you don't want to ride your 600cc bike at 20% throttle the whole time. Would you buy a Porsche 911 for your first car? thats how fast that bike is!
I would take this guys advice. get a cheap shitty bike. have fun with it. if you drop it or god for bid even get in a little wreck. No big deal. 6 months latter get the bike you really want.
For a long time even though I thought I was confident in riding, my hands would get tired and even hurt I was griping the handles bars so tight. For a while every time I got on the bike I looked like an idiot because my elbows were up in the air becuase I couldn't relax them with out consciously thinking about it.
You have time to get a smaller bike. Have fun with it, and get a better bike before I get there and we do any really touring.
