Logo Design

Yeah so I made a logo, and I guess I'll take this opportunity to explain the name R + R. It has multiple meanings. Literally it means Ryan and Robert or Robert and Ryan, depended on who you ask. It also represents rest and relaxation, because after all this is a vacation for us. I know that it might not seem like it for most people, but I think it will be for me. Into the Void, minus the literal meaning, came from Robert and I being huge NIN fans. It's a song that ultimately to me represents a journey. It's also one of my favorite songs, it has a really nice badass beat that makes me think of motion. I can imagine riding to this song for sure. When I listen to this song I think about my life, and I think about the shit I've done good and bad. It gives me some perspective and I feel like riding a motorcycle will give me a similar feeling. Not just to blow some steam off, but to think about life and the decisions that you face everyday and how you handle them. It's also just a really fuckin good song. Into the Void ultimately represents, not only this trip, but all the trips that Robert and I decide to take. Hopefully many many trips. The logo above is just a rough concept, but unless I think of something better it will be this one with minor tweaks. I tried to make the plus sign have a feel of a motorcycle spoked wheel in motion, it needs a little work, but that's the idea. If anyone is reading this let me know what you think.

The End of a Week

Alright it's Friday, so I thought I would give my thoughts of this crazy trip that I'm planning 3 years in advance. I have no motorbike, I'm looking at getting a Yamaha FZ6 for under $3000. Once I get one or right before, I plan on taking the Rider's Edge beginners class at a local Harley Davidson dealership. It cost around $300 bucks.

I hope to have a bike by this time next year. Hopefully sooner, way sooner. Then I will make sure to ride it for a good 6 months to a year before going on this trip. Of course I have to count on Robert getting back from Japan and getting an American bike of his own. We'll see what happens.

As you can see this trip is going to be a couple years from now. I was hoping I could have it for kind of a bachelor party for myself before I get married, which is another story in itself. If you are reading this babe, I Love you, you know that.

If that's the case, I might think about bringing Shaun, a veteran rider, at least in my eyes, that would help us through this journey. Robert if you are reading this, yes I've gone overboard, I'm really excited. I've already invested some time into this, and I plan on a lot more. I plan on keeping this somewhat regularly updated with news, like when I actually buy a motorcycle.

Stay Tuned!

The Starting Point

Yes Robert I've invited you to a blog. I think that you will be pleasantly surprised at some of the things and ideas I have for our motorcycle trip. I want you to be an author of this blog as well. I know you will be recovering from your trip and probably don't really care to think about another right yet, but I have to say I'm completely jealous of your trip and I have to have one of my own, you included of course. I want both of us to ultimately be involved in all the planning, routes, and places to go. Whether it be two years from now or three, we are starting to plan now. Me with no motorbike and you in Japan. I have to say I really wanted to take a bike trip with you before I watched Long Way Round, but now it is something I must do to complete my life's journey. Like I said I will give you some time to relax after the trip, but then I want to show you some things I've been working on that I hope will really excite you.
